TRIAL BY FIRE

The day of the transfer of our “bubbles”, Kathleen fell ill that night.

She woke me up around 2:30 am with severe stomach cramping and all that follows.  It was difficult to see my precious wife so sick, all the while in such concern for our new babies which were in their new home.

All of the symptoms we observed seemed to be consistent with food poisoning, until she got a fever.  At that point I was truly reminded that this was designed by God to do a work in us and truly increase our faith.

As we go through this process and we attempt to give Jesus the glory and truly look for his guidance and peace through each step, we can only expect that the enemy doesn’t delight in our effort to glorify HIM through thick and thin.  But, I am reminded of Job as it was our Lord who said to the enemy:

Job 1:8 “And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”

I love that the enemy can not do anything that my God doesn’t will to be done.

And I am reminded of Paul’s words to the Phillippains:

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
(Philippians 1:6 ESV)

Our Holy, Soverign, Loving, Jealous, Omnipotent, Creator is truly capable of saving our little “bubbles”…but they aren’t really ours…they are HIS.  And for that I am truly thankful.

I am grateful for  a God who is willing to grow my faith and who is with me every step of the way.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
(Isaiah 43:2 ESV)

As of today (Friday Thai time Nov 16th) her fever has subsided and is feeling much better.  Please continue your prayers!
